Program Overview:
This four-week pottery program is designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of wheel throwing, with a focus on developing key skills such as wedging, centering, and glazing. Participants will create their own pottery pieces from start to finish, learning how to work with clay and glaze to produce beautiful, functional art.

Duration: 4 Weeks – 1 Class/Week on Thursdays

Week 1: Introduction to Wheel Throwing – Creating Two Bowls
        •       Learn the basics of wheel throwing, including wedging, centering, and coning.
        •       Throw your first two bowls, with step-by-step guidance.
        •       Practice essential wheel techniques: shaping, creating walls & refining the form.

Week 2: Advanced Bowl Techniques – Inverted Bowls
        •       Build on the skills from Week 1 to create inverted or turned bowls.
        •       Focus on raising the walls evenly, pulling clay, and perfecting your bowl’s shape.
        •       Introduction to trimming and refining your pieces.

Week 3: Sanding & Preparing for Glazing
        •       Sand and smooth the bowls created in Weeks 1 and 2.
        •       Learn how to trim and clean your pieces, ensuring they’re ready for glazing.
        •       Understand the importance of surface texture and preparation for a successful glaze application.

Week 4: Glazing and Finishing Techniques
        •       Introduction to various glaze types & application methods (dipping, brushing)
        •       Glaze your pottery pieces, learning how to apply color and finish.
        •       Overview of the firing process and how to care for your pottery after the program.
